. 1 .One More Day. 1 .

Well, the time has almost come. One more day and I officially cross the pond.

This past week has been both a reflective and exciting time. I have been reflecting quite a lot on my life here in the States–my family, my friends, my hobbies, my habits, and just life in general. While I am both sad and nervous about leaving certain aspects of my life here in Alabama, I am also very excited about beginning a brand new chapter in my life in England. I don’t know how excited I am about English cuisine, haha, but I cannot wait to fully delve into the English culture and lifestyle. AND, as the nerd that I am, I am also looking forward to beginning my classes (The officially begin September 27).

I’ve bought one of my required textbooks and will be reading it on our 15.5 hour flight Wednesday night/Thursday morning… The other ones have been purchased on Amazon and should be arriving shortly to my UK residence!

I’ve also spent the last week trying to pack everything I think I will need for 2 years in 4 suitcases. I know, I know–some of you are probably saying, “FOUR SUITCASES???” BUT, let me say that the 50 pound weight limit is reached very quickly when you’re packing lots of heavy winter clothes. After having packed all of my clothes, shoes, and a few other random things in both my 2 checked bags as well as occupying both of my mom’s, I realized I quite a few things left over that were not going to fit. After crazily trying to stuff things into our carry on bags, my mom and I decided to pay the extra $200 and take an extra suitcase with the logic that what I was going to be packing in that bag could not be re-purchased in England for less than $200. Thus, I am now much calmer knowing I have, in general, packed what I will need for the next 2 years…I hope 🙂

When not packing, I have been trying to soak up as much time with my family as possible. I have officially introduced my little brother, Houston, to Yogurt Mountain and I almost got my cartilage pierced with my little sister, Holly, and her friend Allison. I tried a new Mexican restaurant with my amazing cousin Jordan, and I went to a country cafe with my grandaddy. I bought some dirt and picked up a garden statue with my mamaw, and I had a mother-daughter day with my mom. To top off my week, I had a big family get-together on Sunday at my house–It was the biggest meshing between my paternal and maternal extended families I have ever seen 🙂 We played chicken-foot, grilled out, and had a lot of laughs. I love my family SO much.

Tomorrow I will be re-packing a few things, getting a manicure with my mom, going to see my grandparents, and making sure everything is in order and ready for take-off. We will be flying out of Birmingham, AL at 4:25pm on Wednesday 😉 I am not sure if I will make another post before I arrive in England.

So, until next time…
